Auckland could get a new skyscraper as developer looks to ink $46 million deal

A leading urban developer is in the final stages of securing a $46 million deal to erect a possible skyscraper in the heart of Auckland city.

Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) is behind Kuala Lumpur’s high-rise business district and transport hub.

The planned site sits above the under-construction Aotea station, which is part of the $4.4 billion City Rail Link project due for completion in 2024.

It is located on 4-10 Mayoral Drive and 32-42 Wellesley St West, and consists of 17,000 square metres of retail accommodation.
